On the move....again!

Last August, my daughter and I made a big move from Spain to Liverpool so that she could study at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). I am delighted to say that she is doing very well under what have turned out to be difficult circumstances and is becoming a resilient young woman and building her music and performing creativity despite the restrictions that we are all facing. So very happy with and for her!

As you may know from my previous blog posts, we moved initially to my sister's lovely barn conversion which was a great base to start from, but it was at some distance from LIPA and Romy needed to be able to travel independently to her classes. Despite looking at places near and far from Liverpool City Centre, we found nothing to rent as demand soared as the first lockdown lifted and people were desperate to change their surroundings. Our search extended to the Wirral, which is a little rectangle of land that sticks out across the River Mersey to the north and west of Liverpool. Access to the city is via a tunnel - rail or road - or the famous ferry. And finding somewhere there continued to prove difficult until we found James in West Kirby. I knew when I met him that this was the right sort of landlord. No agency, no forms to fill in, no bland and impersonal space to live in. We loved his apartment and he was happy for us to take it on. We have had just over six months here and it is perfect.

However, a combination of other strange things happened towards the end of last year and almost as quickly as I am explaining it, the following happened. My sister and I saw a house for sale; my mum decided she would buy it; she sold her bungalow; she came to look at it and to visit West Kirby (for the first time!) and now, three months on, we have the keys and the decorators are in and on Wednesday, Mum, Romy and I are all moving in together!!

It's all a bit chaotic at the moment so I am doing fewer classes than usual but hoping to be back to full speed by mid-May. In the meantime, I continue with my NowZen classes and the More DIngBatz workshop on 21 April. Oh, and don't forget that on 24th and 25th April, I will be doing a collaborative event with Hilde Van Ginhoven from ACT2Tangle , who has become a great virtual friend over the past 12 months. We are offering EARTHDAY Tangles 2021, to celebrate and focus on supporting and improving our planet. 50% of our profits will go to The Nature Conservancy's campaing, 'Plant a Billion Trees'. If you wanted to join us, we are offering US/Europe friendly times on Saturday 24th April and Asia/Europe friendly times on Sunday 25th April. If you are interested in joining us, please send me an email and I'll send the details on to you. annietaylorczt@gmail.com

So here are a few photos of our new home that I can share just now as it's crawling with painters and electricians and plumbers. Best thing is that it is in the middle of the lovely town of West Kirby and just two minutes walk to the beach! I can't wait for a string of visitors to call....just give my mum half an hour's notice and she'll have a batch of her delicious scones ready!

Teaching the Teacher.

It's been a most incredible year. Twelve months ago, I had just returned to the UK and discovered that one of the less negative sides of the pandemic was that teaching Zentangle online wasn't just pos
